Proverbs 4:18 (KJV), “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”

Proverbs 4:18 (KJV), “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”

“Unto the perfect day.” I wonder what your idea of the perfect day would be. Maybe it was the day you got married, or gave birth to your first child. Maybe for you, it is a warm summer’s day, not a cloud in the sky, sitting on a chair reading a book, or spending it with your family. For some, the perfect day is one that is peaceful and tranquil. For others, the perfect day is when everything seems to go just right. The Bible says in Proverbs 4:18 (KJV), “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”

As we follow Jesus more and more, and passionately desire to be like Him in every way, there should be a thunderous, deafening sound that roars within us, of the words of John the Baptist, “He must become greater, I must become less.” We must come to the place where we want all of ourselves to be diminished so Jesus can shine through. We must allow His light to swallow up our weakness, and our sinful ways, thoughts and attitudes, so we can shine more and more for Jesus.

All of self, none of God,

Less of self, more of God,

None of self, all of God.

Then one day, we shall be with Him, when the twilight of our years comes to an end. When the last clouds in this world disappear as we close our eyes for the last time, and we enter unto heaven, and open our eyes for the first time, unto the perfect day! It will be a day that never ends, a day of glory, and for our coronation, the day of meeting Jesus face to face.

There is coming a day when no heartaches shall come,

No more clouds in the sky, no more tears to dim the eye.

All is peace forevermore on that happy golden shore,

What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see,

And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;

When He takes me by the hand
And leads me through the Promised Land,

What a day, glorious day that will be.

There’ll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear,

No more sickness, no pain, no more parting over there;

And forever I will be with the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

My friend, in the words from a song by Mercy Me, “I can only imagine.” Let us serve Jesus, letting His glory and goodness shine through us, until, as the Bible says in Song of Solomon 4:6 (NIV), “Until the day breaks and the shadows flee.” Let us walk in His ways, and not our own, for our text for today says in Proverbs 4:18 (KJV), “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day”, unto the perfect day, when we enter in to our home in heaven, to be with Jesus.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
