Joshua 24:15 (NIV), “But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” 

There comes a time in everyone’s life when they have to make a choice: do they serve the gods of this age, or serve the living and true God? Do they serve the god of their fathers that has held them in slavery to sin, who has held them captive, and who has oppressed them, or will they serve the God who forgives, heals, and grants them His favour and blessing?

The Bible says in Joshua 24:15 (NIV), “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” 

There also comes a point in everyone’s life when they will have to make a choice: will they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and serve Him as their King? Their choice is a simple one to make. Will they serve the Lord and go to heaven, or will they reject Jesus Christ and choose not to serve Him, and go to hell? 

Joshua made a choice to serve the Lord. But notice what he said, “But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” First of all, he made that choice for himself, and as a result, he made a choice that affected his household. When we make a decision to follow Jesus, it affects all those who are in our household. Joshua said, “We will serve the Lord.” He made a quality decision that effected his eternal destination, and that of the members of his household.  

My friend, can you hear that question being asked of you today? If serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve. Will you this day, choose to serve the Lord, will you this day, accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour? What will your answer be?
