Daniel 6:10 (NIV), “Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before”.

Daniel 6:10 (NIV), “Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before”.

Daniel chose to live for God; he did not compromise. Even when things got hard, Daniel was to be found three times a day on his knees in prayer to God. Moreover, he prayed with his windows open, he was not ashamed of his relationship with God, nor was he put off by what other people thought of him. He had made that choice to follow God.

The Bible says in Psalm 119:164 (NIV), “Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws”. The Bible also says in Joshua 1:8  (NIV), “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful”.

Can we humble ourselves before a Holy God, to kneel before Him when we pray? How many times a day do praise God for His word, for Jesus Christ our Savior? Do we read our Bible night and day? Do we read it out loud, so that it does not depart from our lips? Our holy habits will, be the things that make us strong in the Lord. Are our holy habits a way of life? What we do in our time alone with God, will reflect in our public ministry.

Daniel could take his stand, because he knew His God. He was not ashamed to say, “I belong to the Lord”. The Bible says in Daniel 11:32 (KJV), “The people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits”.

Some people may say, “My religion is a private matter”. Your relationship with Jesus is one that you should not be ashamed of, one that you should never hide under a bushel, one that is not private. Let the world see Jesus in you!

My friend, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego could be in the center of a blazing furnace and come out of it with not even their clothes smelling of smoke. Daniel could go into the lions den, and come out of it without even a scratch on him, because he prayed and trusted in God to save him. Even when times got tough, Daniel could be found praying three times a day on his knees unto God.

Our text for today says this in Daniel 6:10 (NIV), “Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before”.

For God has promised in Isaiah (NIV) 43; 1 to 4, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel , your Savior. Since you are precious and honored in my sight and because I love you…”

So let us be found on our knees praying unto the Lord. Let us not be ashamed of the name of Jesus. Let us read our Bible everyday, morning and evening, let it not depart from our mouths. Let us be devoted to the things of God, and let us meditate on the things of God and praise Him as often as we can for His goodness towards us, so when the time of testing comes, we will take our stand, knowing that the God who rescued Daniel time and time again, will rescue us. For those who know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.

Lord help me to be as committed to you as Daniel was, and help me to pray on a continual basics. Lord, you are so worthy of our prayers, and our praises, we owe you our life, and help us like you helped Daniel, not to be ashame of you.
