Judges 13: 24 to 25 (NIV) ~ The woman gave birth to a boy and named him Samson. He grew and the LORD blessed him, and the Spirit of the LORD began to stir him.

Have you ever felt that stirring of the Holy Spirit in your life? The dictionary defines the word stir in this way: to waken, to excite, to move and to vigorously stimulate; also to urge, to inspire, to quicken to kindle and inflame.

Samson was a young man when the Spirit of the LORD began to stir within him; stir up the gift of God within him, for him to rise up in the power of the Lord and do mighty acts. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:6 (KJV), “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.” In other words, stir up the gift of God within you, stir up your souls, arise as someone would arise from his slumber and stir yourself up in the most holy faith.

Stir up the gift of God within you by spending time with the LORD in prayer and studying His word. The Bible says in 2 Peter 3:1 (KJV), “This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance.” In way of remembrance of God’s wholesome word, confess, in faith, His promises over your life. Stir yourself up with memory verses of Scripture and the eternal promises of God. Encourage yourself in the Lord. Stir yourself up to do the things you did at first.

So many people are just content to sit within their little comfort zones, but God wants to stir you up as the Bible says in Deuteronomy 32:11 (NIV), “…like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions.” God wants to break you out of your comfort zone; He wants you to spread your wings and fly, carried upward to new heights in God by the wind of the Holy Spirit.

When you get the opportunity to minister, let there be passion, power and the fire of the Holy Spirit in your words, which stirs up the people to get excited about God, and through the Holy Spirit brings about Godly conviction. It is said of Jesus in Luke 23:5 (NIV), “He stirs up the people all over Judea by his teaching.” Jesus stirred up the people and got them excited about God and about His teaching.

My friend, it is time to fan the flame of the Holy Spirit and stir up the gift of God within you. Maybe you once moved in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, with words of knowledge, dreams, visions, or perhaps speaking with a powerful, prophetic ministry and speaking unto the mountains of life and seeing them move, but those times now feel so far away, yet today is your day for a new beginning, as you stir up your desire to see God move in power. Stir up and vigorously stimulate your get-up-and-go for God, awaken the dawn of a new day within your heart to serve God like never before. It is time to stir yourself up and get serious for God.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
