Psalm 34:4 (KJV) I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Where do you go to when you are fearful? To whom do you turn in your moments of fear? The Psalmist David felt fear before Abimelech, so he acted in a way that was contrary to his true self. Fear will grip you tight and choke you until you are frozen; afraid to move and breathe. Fear can suppress you and hold you back, but faith and trusting in God will release you from the snare of fear. Do not let the fear of man become a snare to you, for the Bible says in Hebrews 13:5 to 6 (NIV) Never will I leave you: never will I forsake you. So we say with confidence the Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? With this confidence Martin Luther King once said, “I am not fearing any man, for my eyes have seen the glory of the Lord.”

What are the fears that can plague people?

The fear of feeling inadequate?

The fear of feeling being all alone?

The fear of feeling rejected?

The fear of being bullied?

The fear of falling and failure?

The fear of being used and abused?

The fear of abandonment?

The fear of lack and not being able to make ends meet?

The fear of dying and not knowing where you will spend your eternity?

David had many fears, disappointments and personal insecurities to overcome. Many confident people can suffer from moments of having an inferiority complex — they may appear as if they are like a swan gliding effortlessly through life yet, they are paddling like mad underneath, hoping no one will notice. David, in one of his moments of fear for his life, acted in an uncharacteristic fashion because he was fearful. Yet, he cried out to God in Psalm 34:4 (KJV), “I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”

The Bible says in Psalm 23: 4 (NIV) Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Fear is the opposite of faith. Fear at times can be false evidence appearing real, a counterfeit lie of the enemy. As the Psalmist said, “The shadow of death” The enemy tries to make shadows appear as the real thing, but even through it is only a shadow Jesus is right there with you to strengthen. Moreover, when you trust God you turn away from fear and face the truth, and walk in His ways. As you do you fear no enemy for greater is He that is in your than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4 NIV).

Fear, at times, has to do with punishment, but the Bible says in 1 John 4:18 (Darby Translation),There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has torment.” His perfect love will never bring fear into your life.

Fear is only false evidence appearing real. Slay it with the absolute truth of the word of the Living God.

The perfect love of God combats and dissolves all those feelings of fear until they are gone and you enter into a new level of trusting God.

His love makes you more than a conqueror,

His love declares that He will never leave you nor forsake you,

His love tells you that you are accepted in the beloved,

His love encourages you to grow,

His love states that you can do all things through Christ, who strengthens you,

His love will wrap around you like a blanket and keep you warm and protected,

His love endures forever and His tender mercies will never fail,

His love supplies all your needs through Christ Jesus; He is your EL SHADDAI,

His love gives you that blessed assurance that the songwriter spoke of:  “Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine, oh what a foretaste of glory Divine,”

His love secures your salvation and gives you a home in heaven.

love is not this sentimental something that we talk about. It’s not merely an emotional something.

Love is creative, understanding goodwill for all men. It is the refusal to defeat any individual.

When you rise to the level of love, of its great beauty, you will rise to a new level of power in God.

My friend, in your moments of fear, turn to God who will strengthen you and deliver you from all your fears. Let faith rise in your soul. Climb above the fear and soar to new levels of trusting God. God will help you overcome every fear and live victoriously with an overcoming faith that can stand against anything and prevail, because God is with you, God is in you and you will walk from one victory to another in His strength.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
