John 4:28 (NIV) ~ Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people….

The woman who went to the well that day met with Jesus, and suddenly she had a new purpose in life. The old empty way of life, the isolation and loneliness that it brought, was now left behind. She left her water jar at the feet of Jesus and followed Him. She now had a new lease of life, and a brand new beginning. Before she met Jesus, she would go to the water well when there was no one around, for her lifestyle was one that the people of that day did not find acceptable. Even today it is called “living in sin”, for she was living with man who was not her husband.

Now let us look at the compassion of Jesus. He loved her and spoke gently to her. He never condemned her. He told her all about the living waters, worship, God, spirit and truth. Then, the woman leaves her water jar, her old way of living, for a higher calling. She is no longer busy living sin, but now she is busy doing the will of God.
She left her water jar and followed Jesus. From there, she went into the town and told everyone about Jesus. As a result, the whole town came out to see Jesus.
My friend, wherever you are today, whatever “water jar” you carry with you, leave it at the feet of Jesus. He has a higher calling for you, He has a Divine purpose for your life. Matthew left his tax collector booth to follow Jesus, Elisha left his twelve oxen to follow God, Peter and Andrew left their nets to follow Jesus. God has a great plan for your life, and it is far from just plodding on and surviving from day-to-day. He has an amazing plan and purpose for you life. The Lord who spoke to the woman at the well and lifted her life from where it was living in the pit of sin, to becoming a soul winner, can do the same for the “whosoever”. He can turn every life around so it will be filled with a higher calling, and a heavenly purpose to be a soul winner for the Kingdom of God.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
