Hebrews 10:25 (NIV) ~ Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

I was watching a nature programme the other day that was about a pride of Lions in Africa. I watched as they pounced on stray animals who had wondered off from the rest of the herd. They were easy prey for the Lions. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV), “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” The devil finds such people easy prey, people who have wondered off from the family of God and the fellowship. They miss one meeting, then two, two becomes three, and so on, and before they know it, a month has past, then two and so on.

It is so important to stay in fellowship and be covered in prayerful support from the leadership of a church. God never called us to be an island unto ourselves, but He called us to be part of the family of Christ, part of a fellowship of believers, believers who will encourage one another and build each other up in the most holy faith. A Christian who does not go to church is an orphan living outside the family of God and cut off from a supportive fellowship which is there to build them up and encourage them in the most holy faith. Family within a church is all about relationships and Godly fellowship. The Greek word for fellowship is “koinonia”, meaning “an outcome of such close relationship, sharing and partnership”. God does not want anyone to feel lonely; His desire is for everyone to be a part of His family.

Everyone has a part to play within the fellowship, everyone is so very important as we all work together. It’s just like in an orchestra with each one playing a different instrument with a different sound, but when they play together they make such a sweet symphony. Likewise, I believe when Christians who come from different backgrounds work together, with compassion and love in the Lord, they make such a sweet symphony, a beautiful sound, for the Kingdom of God.

My friend, let us never give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing and miss out on so much. May holy habits produce faithfulness and faithfulness produce love in the Lord and for one another so we can encourage one another to grow in God daily and help each other with every aspect of daily living, reaching out in love and encouraging each other as we see the Day approaching.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
