1 Peter 2:9 (NIV) ~But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

In Chinese philosophy, the concept of yin yang is used to describe how seemingly opposing forces are interconnected and interdependent in the natural world, giving rise to each other in turn. In the natural, it is illustrated by such dualities as dark and light (darkness and light).

There can never be a cohabiting together of light and darkness. There can never be a living together, hand in hand, of light and darkness, for as the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 6:14 (NIV), “What fellowship can light have with darkness?” There is a clash of kingdoms, between the Kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness.

What is more powerful, darkness or light? If I enter into a darkened room and switch the light on, does the darkness hide the light, or does the light overcome it and dispel the darkness? If I shine a huge powerful torch in a darkened the room, will the darkness over come it? No, the light will dispel and destroy the darkness. Darkness cannot survive in the brilliance of the light of the glory of God. The Bible says in John 1:5 (AMP), “And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it.” Also in 2 Samuel 22:29 (NIV) it says, “You are my lamp, O LORD; the LORD turns my darkness into light.”

Some people love to live in darkness, because, as the Bible says in John 3:19 (NIV), “This is the verdict, Light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” My friend, God does not want anyone to live in darkness. He wants all mankind to enjoy the victory which the Light of the world, Jesus Christ, brings. God wants us all to enjoy the marvelous light.

There is a great song by the singer, songwriter, Charlie Hall called, “Marvelous light”:

Into marvelous light I’m running, out of darkness, out of shame,

By the cross You are the Truth,

You are the Life, You are the Way.

Sin has lost its power; death has lost its sting,

From the grave, You’ve risen, victoriously.

My dead heart now is beating; my deepest stains now clean,

Your breath fills my lungs, now I’m free, now I’m free!

When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are born-again, we are transported into the Kingdom of His marvelous light, His victory and His radiant glory, where we can enjoy and live in His victory over darkness. We are saved to go forth in His name and take the glorious light of the gospel into all the world, to dispel the darkness wherever we go, with the blazing, glorious bright light and bright fire of the Holy Spirit. All who come to Jesus may join with us in this confession of faith from 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV),“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
