Deuteronomy 11:18 (NIV) Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

I have often seen pictures of people praying with a little box on their hands and a little box tied on their forehead. These little boxes are filled with promises from God. The box sits on the top of their hand as the binding wraps around their marriage finger, which leads straight to their heart. Then the other box is tied just above the eyes on their forehead, to keep the word of God in their hearts and minds. Then they read the word of God with an audible voice, confessing His promises.
It is very interesting to note that Jesus quoted more from the book of Deuteronomy than any other book in the Bible. In Verses 4 and 5 of Deuteronomy 6 (NIV) it says this, “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
When you are in love with someone, you find it hard not to talk about them. You just want to tell them time and time again how much you love them. You think of ways in which to bless them, and show them your love for them. If they sent you love letters, you would read them over and over again.
God says to talk about His word, talk about His promises and believe in every one of them at all times; when you lie down or get up, or walk along the road, or at home with your family. Talk about the promises of God. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates, so you see His word when you leave and when you enter your house. Let His word dwell richly within you; surround yourself with His word. Never let it depart from your lips; confess it daily. Let your mind and heart mediate on His promises.
My friend, when we read the amazing love letter from God written to us in the Bible, we see how much He loves us, how His tender loving-kindness, His grace and mercy are poured out to us in abundance. We read of His great love for us, that He sent His Son to die for us on the cross of Calvary.
Let us, this day, symbolically take His word, tie them on our hands, and bind them on our foreheads. Let His word fill our minds, and write them on the tablets of our hearts. Let us talk to our children about His great and awesome promises, and let us talk about His great love for us, to whomever we meet, whenever we can. Let us tell of His mighty power to save, His powerful promises and His love, mercy and grace for the “whosoever” who will believe.
Let us take every promise of God and mediate on them. Let us confess them with our mouths, let them never depart from our lips, that we may develop a deeper love for the Savior of our souls. May we not only tie His promises on our hands and our foreheads, but let them dwell within our hearts, so we live in, and by His promises for us, and in so doing, fall in love with Him, who is the promise keeper.
God bless you my friend, Matthew.
