Isaiah 26:4 (NIV) ~ Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.

In the previous verse of Scripture we can read of this amazing truth, “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.” The key word is “trust”. The Hebrew word for trust is batah meaning, to rely on, put confidence in, be confident of, depend upon, feel secure with, safe with and believe in. To fully believe in, lean upon Jesus, and put all your hope upon Him; to take Him at His word and trust in the Lord with all your heart, is the best place to be.

In 1882, Louisa M.R Stead penned the words to this beautiful song:

Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His word,

Just to rest upon His promise, just to know, Thus saith the Lord.

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him, how I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er,

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus, O for grace to trust Him more.

Notice if you will, from our text for today, that it all begins when you trust in the Lord. He will give you rest and perfect peace, when you trust in Him. At the end of the verse, we have a reason to fully trust upon Him, for He is the Rock eternal, the Rock that cannot be moved. His love is steadfast and sure, it will never be shaken, it is constant, ever-present and always faithful.

Oh, how the old hymn captivates my soul about trusting in Jesus, written by E. Page.

Simply trusting every day, trusting through a stormy way,

Even when my faith is small, trusting Jesus, that is all.

Trusting as the moments fly, trusting as the days go by,

Trusting Him what’er befall, trusting Jesus, that is all.

My friend, trust in the Lord with all your heart, come to the Rock eternal, trust in His unfailing love and be saved. On Christ the solid Rock I stand while all around is sinking sand. Trust in Him, rely upon Him, and as you do so, may you find in Him, Life and His perfect peace to guide your path, as you trust daily in His Way.

God bless you my friend, Matthew
