Job 42:10 (NIV) ~ After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before.

Job’s spirit of forgiveness towards his friends became the pivotal point for his own well-being, and the well-being of his friends. This happened only when he prayed for them and forgave his so-called friends and so-called comforters. When Job prayed for them it became the turning point for him to receive full restoration. This also applies to you, when you pray for people who have mistreated you and you forgive them, then you will see the tide of God’s blessing turn once more in your favor in every area of your life. Job prayed for those who had falsely accused him and who even had tried to discredit him. Job got to a point where he cried out, “My advocate is on high, my intercessor is my friend, I know that my Redeemer lives!” Our Advocate from on high is Jesus, who is always interceding before the Father for us.

Job forgave them and prayed for them, the word prayed in Hebrew is palal meaning to pray, entreat, intercede and to make supplication. It was only when Job prayed for them and forgave his supposed friends that God made him prosperous again. In fact, the Bible says in Job 42:12 (NIV), “The Lord blessed the later part of Job’s life more than the first.”

Forgiveness is the key that opens the door to healing and peace. When you pray and forgive someone who has done you harm, or falsely accused you, you release yourself from the snare of unforgiveness. In one sense, you are set free from captivity to enjoy freedom in your spirit. You then get to a place where nothing will hinder God from bringing upon you a mighty blessing.

How powerful and awesome is our text from today in Job 42:10 (NIV), “After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before.” It was only after Job prayed for them and forgave them that God truly blessed Job. Going before God with a humble heart and asking him to forgive them who have done you wrong, and to pray for God to bless them and show them his favor, sounds, to the world, the wrong thing to do. After all, why pray for those who have harmed you? But we do not go by this world’s rules, but are governed by Kingdom living and godly principles of faith, hope and love. Through prayer, you will release forgiveness, and bring liberty and the abundance of God’s blessing.

My friend, let us learn to pray for those who ill-treat us, who falsely accuse us, who slander our name and speak unkind words about us. Let us not block up the flow of God’s blessing towards us because we let our spirit be bound up in unforgiveness. Pray for them and forgive them, just as Job learned to do. Then, from a pure love relationship with God, God will pour unto you His blessings in abundance, and you will be like Job who had twice as much as he had before.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
