2 Samuel 6:11 (NIV) ~ The Ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the LORD blessed him and his entire household.

This verse of Scripture has captivated me for weeks now. My mind has dwelt upon this verse and what happened to Obed-Edom after the Ark of LORD was taken up to the City of David. In the three months the Ark of the LORD was within the house of Obed-Edom, God granted Obed-Edom and his entire household His favor and blessing.
Now, King David and all those living nearby saw the favor and blessing of the LORD upon Obed-Edom and his entire household because the Presence of God was within his house. What a place to be in, what a place to dwell in, right in the center of the favor of God, where His Presence dwells. People will always notice if the Presence of God is dwelling within you.
The next time Obed-Edom is mentioned is in 1 Chronicles 15:24 (Darby Translation), “…and Obed-Edom and Jehijah were doorkeepers for the ark.” Obed-Edom never wanted to leave the Presence of God, and so, he left all he had to be near God everyday and have the reality of His Presence in his life. The Bible says in Psalm 84:10 (NIV), “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.” Moses once said this amazing statement to God in Exodus 33:15 (NIV), “Then Moses said to him, ‘If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.’”
My friend, there is no substitute for the Presence of God. You can fill your life with all sorts of stuff, but once you have experienced His Presence you want to dwell in the center of His will for the rest of your life. All your priorities will change to a point where God is put first in every area of your life. Today, if you have not done so, ask Jesus Christ to be the Lord of your life. Let the Ark of the New Covenant, in the form of Jesus Christ, dwell in the household of your heart. My prayer for you today is that as His Presence rests within the household of your heart that you will experience His favor and blessing in every area of your life.
God bless you my friend, Matthew
