Joshua 3:13 (NIV) ~ And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the LORD – the Lord of all the earth—set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.

Now, the Jordan was in full flood during the harvest, so the river had a very strong undercurrent, with its raging waters flowing down stream. However, here was the promise of God to His people:  if you take the first step, I will do the miracle. All it takes is for someone to believe in God and take that first step, and then God will do the rest.
There may be rivers we think are too hard to cross, in our natural human thinking, we see them as obstacles that block our way, but as we take that first step of faith and believe in God’s word, He will make a way before us. Not only did the people of Israel cross over that had been raging before them, but they did so on dry land.
All it takes is for you to have the courage to believe is God’s word and take that first step of faith, and God will do the rest. Then, He will hold back the raging waters; He will hold back what once stood opposed to you going forward. He will not let your foot slip, for the Lord ordains the steps of a righteous man. It doesn’t matter if people think the way before you is too hard and that everything stands against you, and that the river is high, at flood level, and the waters are raging and the current will pull you down, just believe in God’s word, take that first step and God will do the rest.
My friend, we are greatly encouraged today from our text in Joshua 3:13 (NIV), “And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the LORD – the Lord of all the earth—set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.” For we are priests unto God most high, we carry His covenant within our heart, and if we simply take God at His word and have the courage to take the first step, God will do the rest.
God bless you my friend, Matthew.
