Romans 4:18 (NIV) ~ Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

Abraham was first named “father,” and then became a father because he dared to trust God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life.  He believed that God could, simply with a word, make something out of nothing. When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw with his eyes, or focusing on what he couldn’t do, but on what God said He would do.

Contrary to hope, in hope Abraham believed. When everything in the natural stood against him, and it seemed impossible to do, his hope was not based on an earthly one, but it was a hope based on what God had said would happen. For against all hope, all earthly hope, Abraham believed in a heavenly hope in God.

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed! And so he became… It came to pass! That which was invisible became visible. His hope came to pass; God’s promise was fulfilled. If God has shown you something before it happens, if He has placed a dream in your heart and in the natural things may stand opposed to it, then encourage yourself with our text for today in Romans 4:18 (NIV), “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’”  If God has let you see what is yet to come, if God has spoken to your heart and given you a promise, then in hope, believe with a heavenly faith and you will receive the promise of God for your life.

My friend, has there been a situation in your life where you have had an earthly hope for something to happen? It is time to look beyond an earthly hope and believe in a heavenly one. Believe in God’s promise, even if it seems almost impossible in the natural. Do not focus on what is seen with the eyes of the flesh, but rather, set your eyes on the eternal promises of God. Be like Abraham, who against all hope, believed in hope and received, inherited the promise of God. Keep hoping against hope, believe in God’s word, and that promise of God for you will be a reality, it will be, in God, the substance of things hoped for.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
