Genesis 37:5 (KJV) And Joseph dreamed a dream.

Dreams can drive us and motivate us. Dreams help us want to be a better man; they inspire us to be great. There is something amazing about the power of dreams. If you can dream it you can do it, Vincent Van Gogh once said, “I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream.”

It seems to me that so many people have so many ideas about what their perfect dream is.

For others, their dream is to just live for one more day. To see their family one last time, to watch one last sunset, to give one last smile those they love.

For others, they just dream to live for God and do His will.

For others, their dream is to live a quite life.

For others, their dream is to have a family.

For others, their dream is to be someone famous.

For others they dream to be noticed.

For others, they dream to be free from poverty; to have food and clean water.

For others, their dream is to just find someone to love and be loved in return.

For others, they dream of that big pay day job, and will strive everyday of their lives for it. No matter how much it costs, or who they use, or hurt along the way to get it.

For some, their dream is to win the lottery, and if truth be told, their thoughts are consumed by it.

For others, their dream is be well and free from pain.

Eleanor Roosevelt who was the First Lady of the United States from 1933-45, during the four presidential terms of her husband, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of dreams.”

Charles Edwin Anson Markham (1852-1940) once wrote in a poem that says this:

Ah, great it is to believe the dream as we stand in youth by the starry stream;

But a greater thing is to fight life through and say at the end, the dream is true!

Now, let me bring this closer to home. Have you ever had a dream to do something for God? Many people in the Bible dreamed big dreams. Many people had a dream from the Lord. Then when they woke up, they obeyed the word of the Lord and their dreams came true. Many people dream to serve God; to see souls saved in a mighty end-time harvest. For some, they even dream of seeing God perform great and mighty miracles.

God does not give us dreams just for us to say, “Aw that would be so nice if that could happen Lord.” But He gives us dreams, like seeds, which are planted within our hearts. We have to have the faith to water them and do whatever God has called us to do, for those dreams to grow and become a reality in our lives.

The Bible says in Psalm 20:4 (NIV), “May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed”. Also in Psalm 37:5 (NIV), “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.”

My friend, dream big dreams for God. Dare to dream big. Dream dreams which in many people’s eyes would seem impossible dreams; but not with God, for with God all things are possible. Genesis 46:2 (NIV) says this, “And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, ‘Jacob! Jacob!’ ‘Here I am,’ he replied.” So when God speaks to you in a dream, just as He did to Jacob, will your response be, “Here I am”? God not only had big plans for Jacob, but He also has big plans for you too.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
