Ruth 2:3 (NIV) ~ So she went out and began to glean in the fields behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she found herself working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelech.

Out of all the fields that surrounded Bethlehem, the Bible says that Ruth found herself in a field belonging to Boaz. Have you ever just found yourself in a field of blessings, where God has blessed you with handfuls on purpose of His blessings? As you go about your life, you stop to think about where you are and you find yourself in a place of peace, rest, provision and protection within His field of favour.

Ruth was a woman of noble character. She was out working to provide for her mother-in-law doing the righteous and noble thing, when suddenly she found herself in the field of favour. Notice, if you will, the wording from our text for today in Ruth 2:3 (NIV), “So she went out and began to glean in the fields behind the harvesters.” She went out! She went and did something; she rose up and went doing the will of God. Those who are doing the will of God overtake those who are spending time trying to seek the will of God. Ruth went out and did the will of God. It is when you start to do His will that you will find yourself working within His field of Divine favour and blessing.

Things do not happen by chance, they are Divine interventions by God, Divine appointments and Divine opportunities. Here, as Ruth went out doing the will of God, simply obeying His word, God blessed her. God, like a Heavenly Conductor, orchestrated a beautiful symphony of blessing to use those around Ruth as instruments of His glory to bring about His purpose for Ruth, for her to find herself in a the field of favour and blessing.

My friend, the Bible says in Psalm 37:23 (KJV), “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.” Let your steps be directed by the Lord, let nothing come between you and His will for your Life, and like Ruth, live your everyday life doing His will, and you will find yourself in the field of favour and blessing, as God directs for your life.

God bless you my friend, Matthew

  1. He may have called us to walk on water – but at times, He shows us where the stepping stones are.

  2. This was so encouraging. Thank you.
