Psalm 94:22 (Darby Translation) ~ But Jehovah will be my high tower; and my God the rock of my refuge.

Within the fortified walls of Sterling Castle in Scotland, just over the drawbridge and to the one side there is a high tower, whose lookout vantage points survey the majestic views of the valley below which is surrounded by the most lush, beautiful mountains which have been given the name, “Gateway to the Highlands.”

On the wall inside the high tower, which was built in the 12th century, amidst the cold, hard barrenness of stone, there grows a beautiful flowering plant, whose roots are grafted deep within the rock wall. This colourful, pink flower blossoms with its mint green leaves, as it stands out against the backdrop of the grey lumps of rock woven together by the hand of man. Yet, from this cold stone, this rock that stands as a high tower, a fortress, life has found a way to grow and bloom. By the very hand of God, He has caused life to come forth.

God can bring life and beauty to any cold, hard heart of stone. He can cause beauty and fruitfulness to flourish and to spring forth with new life, but we must graft ourselves, we must put our roots deep into the Rock of our Salvation, Jesus Christ, our High Tower and Fortress.

My friend, no matter where you are today, plant yourself deep within the Rock of Ages, hide yourself in the cleft of the Rock. It is a place of beauty that compares to none, a place where you can grow, flourish and blossom. God can cause life to happen in any heart of stone and bring something amazing from it all; He can bring Life – one which is full of new beginnings, new hope and new beautiful things to blossom in Christ Jesus.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
