Psalm 78:72 (NIV) ~ And David shepherded them with integrity of heart.

David achieved so much for God, he defeated one giant after another, and won one victory after another, due of His integrity of heart before the Lord and because of his willingness to serve God with all he had. The Hebrew word for integrity is tom meaning blameless, righteous and honest. Integrity is adherence to moral principles, the practice of which will make a man of truth and honour. These are qualities David has in his heart in order to serve God in his generation, in order to be a man after God’s own heart and a good shepherd of the Lord‘s sheep.

Psalm 24:3 to 4 (NIV), “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart.” John Glass once wrote a wonderful book called, “Open Heart, Open Hands.” When you have an open heart before God, one which is motivated by pure Christ-centred purposes, then a whole new door of worship and service to God will open up to you. God will always use someone who has an open heart with open hands ready serve Him with integrity and honour.

In Hamlet Act 1 Scene 3 by Shakespeare, Polonius says to his son Laertes, “This above all: to thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.” Therefore, be true to yourself and each other, but most of all, be true to God, just like David, who had a heart of integrity before the LORD. Better to have a heart of integrity before the Lord than side with the unscrupulous.

My friend, liberate your life from the mediocrity of half-hearted attempts of integrity, and make a life-changing quality decision to be a man or woman of honour and integrity before the Lord. Let your life be filled with an integrity of heart just like David, so you can be a good shepherd to those who are looking for a Godly example in life. Build the house of your life with your foundations solid in truth, the bricks of integrity of the word of God, and let your walls be ones of righteousness, and the roof-top covered in Christ-centred virtues. Then, people will be drawn to the light of Christ which will shine through you as pure and powerful as His resplendent rays of glory.

God bless you my friend, Matthew
