Psalm 55:22 (NIV) Cast your cares on the lord and he will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.

Today are you troubled with worry and uncertainty, does fear of not knowing what the future holds darken your path? Do things at home and worries at work or school get you down and you don’t know which way to turn. Is worry like a heavy yoke weighing upon your heart and mind, does your life feel like a daily grind rather than a joy right now? Then this verse is just for you today from Psalm 55:22 (NIV) Cast your cares on the lord and he will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.

Even though you can face times of great difficulty you have a Rock in times of trouble, you have an anchor through the storms of life that’s steadfast and certain you have a God who loves you and is there to help. For the Bible says in Psalm 46:1 (NIV) God is refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

The Hebrew word for cast is salak meaning to throw away, to hurl to one side and to lay something down, now the Greek word for cast which can be found in 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you. Is the word is epirip meaning thrown on and cast on.

Can you imagine Peter who was a fisherman to trade standing on his boat with his net in hand ready to cast it over board, to cast the heavy net away from him?

Likewise cast away from your boat your heavy weight of worry, throw away your fears, your pain, your disappointment, your heartache onto the LORD for he cares for you. Not only will does the LORD care for you but He has promised He will sustain you and never let you fall, He will strengthen you and help you as you cast away your cares unto Him.

There is a wonderful truth to be discovered in the old gospel hymn by Joseph Scriven (1819-86) with these beautiful lyrics:

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief’s to bear,

what a privilege to carry every thing to God in prayer.

oh what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bear,

all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

My friend, may our text for today minister to you and bring you peace. Jesus cares for you, He will strengthen and sustain you and will never let the righteous fall. If truth be told sometimes you take things to the Lord and leave them at the foot of the cross, only for a few moments later to take them back again. Don’t just leave your troubles at the foot of the cross but rather cast them far away, cast them upon Jesus for He cares for you and let Him fill you with His peace as you trust in Him to deliver you from all your worries, fears and troubles. For the Bible says in Psalm 3:3 (NIV) But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. You O Lord are the One who care for me and sustains me and I will trust in You alone.

God bless you my friend, Matthew
