1 Thessalonians 1:3 (NIV) ~ We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labour prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Three very positive, productive principles, and each and every one of them are a product of the promises of God. Faith, love and hope—the last one, hope, is by no means the least, for in our text for today it says, “Your endurance inspired by hope.”

1. Your work produced by faith.

2. Your labour prompted by love,

3. Your endurance inspired by hope.

The word “inspired” is two Greek words rolled into one theopneustos; Theos meaning God and pnoe meaning to breathe. We are given Life by God and touched by the hand of God.

The three words work, labour and endurance all mean you have to put something into them for them to produce something. It is a never-giving-up Christ-like attitude through faith. hope and love. You do not sit around doing nothing, but you are productive in your faith, your actions are prompted by love, your endurance is inspired. Even when you feel like giving up, you keep going because you have this amazing hope in Christ Jesus.

Ernest Newman once said, “The great composer does not set to work because he is inspired, but becomes inspired because he is working. Beethoven, Wagner, Bach and Mozart settled down day after day to the job in hand. They did not waste time waiting for inspiration.”

Keep being faithful in the little things, keep being faithful in your prayer life, your Bible reading, your sharing of the gospel, and you will find that you will be changed and inspired by God, and have this testimony from our text for today in 1 Thessalonians 1:3 (NIV), “We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labour prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

My friend, we could just lay about all day waiting for an opportunity to be a blessing to someone, or we can rise up and do something to bless someone. As you put your faith into action, God will inspire you to move on up, to step up to a level in your faith from one degree of glory to another, from one victory to another. So as you work, labour and endure, you will be touched by the hand of God and inspired to grow in your faith. You will be in a place where your actions and reactions are driven by love. You will develop, in God, this amazing endurance that keeps you going on and on for God, inspired by the hope you have in Christ Jesus.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
