Genesis 1:2 to 3 (NIV) ~ Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light” and there was light.

Fasten your seat belt and let us go for a journey into the Word of Living God. We may stop along the way to take in the scenery, however, let us explore this new-found route, which this verse of Scripture takes us on, and enjoy ride. You can almost feel the tension building up as this verse is bubbling over with power, ready to explode into action. Verse three of Genesis chapter one says (NIV), “And God said, ‘Let there be light’ and there was light.”

God is a God of plan, a God of promise; God is God of purpose and a God power.

By faith you speak the promise of God into being and through faith you receive the promise of God. The Holy Spirit is hovering over the surface of your mouth, over the formless and empty words from your mouth and is waiting for the word of faith to be spoken. For it is with faith we speak God’s powerful and creative word. When you take His words upon your lips in faith, and believe in them with all your heart and speak them in faith and power, you will see the Holy Spirit hovering over them, to see God’s word fulfilled, to see God’s plan, His promise, His purpose and power brought into action.

The Holy Spirit is hovering over the face of the deep, where something without form or shape is ready to be brought into substance is ready to be brought into reality by faith. The Bible says in Romans 4:17 (NIV), “God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.” God is calling you to walk in faith and believe that you can call those things that are not as if they were, in faith, fully trusting that the Holy Spirit who is hovering over the fruit of your lips as you speak His word in faith and power.

The Bible says in Numbers 20:7 (NIV), “Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.” Notice God did not want Moses to strike the rock, but to speak to it in faith, trusting in God’s word, trusting that the Holy Spirit who is hovering over the fruit of his lips ready to see God’s word accomplished.

My friend, Jesus said in Mark 11:23 (NIV), “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.” If things seem formless and empty, and circumstances seem dark, then take the Word of the Living God and speak it in faith, and see His Light appear, see His Word bring Life and see God do something amazing through the Holy Spirit in your life, as our text for today says in Genesis 1:2 to 3 (NIV), “Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light’ and there was light.”

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
