Psalm 119:103 (NIV) ~ How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

If you have ever had the privilege of tasting honey straight from the comb it is like velvet on your taste buds. It looks like liquid gold, rich in texture, but smooth as silk. Honey has a medicinal quality that enables your body to fight off infection. In the Middle East, honey is used in a lot of recipes, and on its own in various forms.

The Bible says in Psalm 34:8 (KJV), “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Taste, delight in, and enjoy His words, feast upon the banquet of food from the Master’s table. See there the precious gifts from His table, feast upon His words and take in food for your spirit and soul, for as the Bible says in Psalm 19:10 (NIV), “They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.”

The word of the Lord sustains you, it builds you up, it encourages you, it gives you direction, it gives you hope, it keeps you going and is like honey from the comb in your mouth as you confess it. Also the Bible says in Proverbs 4:22 (Amplified Bible), “For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh.”

My friend, the Psalmist talks about how much the word of God meant to him, how it constantly refreshed him and fed him and how he would enjoy each word, like tiny morsels of food, that he enjoyed tasting. To him, each and every word of the Living God tasted sweeter than honey from the comb. The question is, “How does God’s word taste to you?” Do you feast upon it daily? Do you enjoy chewing it over and getting your teeth into the meaty things of God? Do you love His word more than gold? As you feast upon His word, does it taste to you sweeter than honey from the comb?

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
