John 15:7 (NIV) ~ If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.

The word “wish”, in the Greek is thelo, meaning desire, want to, delights and requests. Salvation from God is not about wishing upon a star, nor is over a rainbow, but salvation from God is about believing by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. His invitation is to come unto to Him and drink the living waters, for the Bible says in Revelation 22:17 (NIV), “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.”

Over the Rainbow

(often referred to as Somewhere over the Rainbow) is a classic ballad song with music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg. It was written for the movie The Wizard of Oz, and was sung by Judy Garland in that movie.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high, there’s a land that I heard of, once in a lullaby. Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.

Someday I’ll wish upon a star, and wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that’s where you’ll find me. Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow, why then, oh why can’t I?

Your promises from God for your life are not “somewhere over the rainbow”, they are here and now, with a beautiful heavenly mansion, within the city of God, waiting for you. The sweetest lullaby we sing speaks of Jesus as our King. In God, the dreams that you dream from Him really do come true. Constantly remain in Jesus and you will never stray from the path of life, for He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

My friend, Dorothy in the film the Wizard of Oz faced her foe, the wicked witch; she followed the yellow brick road and found her way home. You may face your foe every day, but take heart for Jesus has overcome. As you follow Jesus on the path of life, it will always lead you home. Dorothy is heard saying, at near to the end of the movie as she clicked her ruby red shoes with her eyes closed, “There’s no place like home.” For those who have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, we just have pray for the kingdom of God, it not far away, it is within us.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
