Psalm 85:10 (NIV) ~ Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.

As I was reading through my Bible the other day I came across this wonderful phrase. It can be found ten times in the NIV Bible; it is just three words long, yet has eternal meaning. The three words are, “Love and faithfulness.” Notice if you will, the wording from our text for today, “meet together.” Both love and faithfulness walk hand-in-hand, married as one. The strength of this phrase is awesome. God’s covenant of Love is called “chesed love”, and it meets together with His faithfulness to combine as one powerful promise. Chesed is a Hebrew word which represents God’s sure, steadfast love for His people who are in covenant relationship with Him. God’s love for you and His faithfulness towards you are immense. Through His amazing love for you He is faithful to every promise He has ever made for you.

Oh, how the words from the old hymn, written by Thomas O. Chisholm, come flooding back to my mind:

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; there is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; as thou hast been thou forever will be.
Great is thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

His love and faithfulness cover you,

His love and faithfulness protect you,

His love and faithfulness provide for you,

His love and faithfulness bring you peace,

His love and faithfulness bring you healing,

His love and faithfulness bring you deliverance,

His love and faithfulness bring you salvation.

Let us touch but briefly upon the second part of our text for today, “righteousness and peace kiss each other.” See how intimately the embrace joins them together, lost in love. The words from this verse show a Divine expression of God’s grace. First, we meet together through the cross of Calvary and receive Jesus Christ as our LORD and Saviour. Then, we are united together as we kiss each other, now in peace and having peace with God. I can attest that, of all the things I have done in this life, falling in love with Jesus is the best and greatest thing I have ever done.

My friend, His love and faithfulness meet together and embrace your life, as though His arms of love are wrapping around you and holding you close. His love will never let you go and His faithfulness will always hold you close. Today, let His love and faithfulness minister into every area of your life, meet with Him and kiss the Son, as it says in Psalm 2:12, and let righteousness and peace filled your life.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
