Amos 7:7 (NIV) ~ The Lord was standing by a wall that had been built true to plumb, with a plumb line in his hand.

There has to be a certain standard to your foundations, they must be straight and strong, with solid cornerstones and structural integrity. When the Lord is allowed to build the house, He builds it with His plumb line. There are no compromises, no little leeway’s or exceptions. His wall is built true, upright and with internal integrity. The Bible says in Isaiah 28:17 (NIV), “I will make justice the measuring line and righteousness the plumb line.” The Bible also says in Micah 6:8 (NIV), “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Having a solid foundation requires you to walk in righteousness, with justice as your shield, and to walk in a way which honours God in all that you say and do, for His glory. To build with a plumb line means to give over to the Master Builder, Jesus Christ, the complete construction and ongoing work of your life into His hands.

Each house has an architect who has a plan, a blueprint, for building it, but if your foundations are not built secure, then you will be found wanting on the day of trouble. However, when you let the Chief Architect and Builder, who is Christ Jesus, build the walls of your life true to the heavenly standard of His word, with righteousness, justice and internal integrity based on God’s plumb line, then you will have an inward, unyielding, unflinching desire to walk before God in holiness and power.

My friend, let Jesus Christ run His plumb line across your life today. If something in your life is not in right standing with God’s word, allow Jesus to minister to that area of your life so you may have a walk that pleases the LORD, one which is filled with integrity, so whoever may meet you will see His glory shinning through a vessel of honour, filled with holiness and power in the Holy Spirit.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
