John 9:35 (NIV) ~ Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”

This is the story of the man who had been born blind, yet when he met Jesus, Jesus healed him and the man was able to see. The boldness of this man is admirable, he stood against those who wanted to ridicule and denounce his healing, yet the man testified to them how he was healed. As a result, the man was insulted by the so-called religious rulers of the day and thrown out of the synagogue.

Can you imagine how the man must have felt about being interrogated, insulted and thrown out? Can you even imagine the rejection this man must have felt, as well as the loneliness and despair? For a Jew, in those days, their lives centred around the synagogue, it was not only a place of worship but the centre of their community.

However, the story does not stop there, for when Jesus heard about what had happened to the man, Jesus searched for him until he found him. Notice if you will, Jesus took time to find the man. The Bible says in Isaiah 62:12 (KJV), “And they shall call them, the holy people, the redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, sought out.” Jesus, sought this man out to reach out to him. Jesus took time to find this little lamb, this tender lamb, whose heart needed a home. Jesus sought him out and brought him into the family of God. No more does this man feel rejected for he is now accepted in the beloved.

I often wonder to myself, how many people could identify with this man? Having been touched by the hand of the Master and yet ridiculed, insulted for their new found faith in Jesus, thrown out of their “synagogues” of family and community where they had grow up, yet Jesus will seek them out and bring them into a new family. With tender-loving kindness Jesus builds them up in the most holy faith.

My friend, Jesus Christ will stop in His tracks and seek you out and ask you just as He asked the man in our text for today in John 9:35 (NIV), “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” What, then, will your response be? The man in our story relied, “Lord, I do believe and he worshipped Him.” When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, He gives your heart a home, you are accepted in the beloved, and your heart-felt response is to worship Him. You will never face things on your own, for you will have Jesus Christ standing by your side to help in every area of your new-found Life in Him, every step of the way.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
