Galatians 6:7 (NIV) ~ A man reaps what he sows.

I once read an article in a daily newspaper dated October 7th, 2009. This story was on the cover on the front page, it was headline news. The summary of the story is as follows:

Two male thugs, who had been drinking heavily, attacked several people as they walked down a main street, including one person dressed as Spider-Man. Then they taunted a pair of cross-dressers on a night out, dressed in drag, with wigs, short skirts, hand bags and high heels. However, they picked on the wrongs guys. The men in drag were cage fighters in fancy dress. When one of the thugs who was bare-chested, aimed a punch at the one of the men in fancy dress, his friend stepped in wearing a sparkly black dress and long wig. He landed two lightening blows on the thugs and sent them reeling, while their intended victims teetered away in high heels, stopping only to pick up a clutch hand bag they had dropped during the scuffle.

There is a huge lesson to be learnt from this story, and no, it is not “do not mess with men wearing short skirts, wigs, carrying hand bags and in high heels, who are cage fighters in fancy dress for a night out,” but the lesson is from our verse for today in Galatians 6:7 (NIV), “A man reaps what he sows.”

When we sow aggression, we will reap aggression.

When we sow discord, we will reap discord.

When we sow discouragement, we will one day reap discouragement.

But when we sow good seed, we will reap a good harvest.

When you sow generosity, you will reap generosity.

When you sow kindness, you will reap kindness.

When you sow blessing, you will reap blessing.

When you sow mercy, you will reap mercy.

My friend, what kind of seed are you sowing today? The Bible says in Galatians 6: 7 to 8 (NIV), “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” Sow good seed, sow blessing, sow kindness, sow forgiveness, and sow seeds of encouragement. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness. For whatsoever a man soweth that shall he reap.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
