Romans 3:24 (KJV) ~ Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Being justified is a Divine act of God through Jesus Christ to those who believe. When you are justified through faith in Christ Jesus you have peace before God, for your sins, which were many, have been forgiven and you stand before a holy God cleansed through the precious blood of Jesus.

Our text for today can fall into four beautiful and powerful acts of God:

1. Justified freely,

2. By His grace,

3. Through redemption,

4. In Christ Jesus.

However, let us just look briefly at one word, the word being justified. The Greek word for justified is dikaioo meaning vindicated, declared righteous, acquitted, make innocent, to put someone in a proper relationship with a holy God. In other words, to be made clean just as if your had never sinned.

Martin Luther, the great reformer from the 1500s, was a sleep on his bed one night, when he was awakened by a noise. He woke to find the devil at the bottom of his bed. The devil opened a closet and pulled out all the skeletons from Martin Luther’s past. He told him that he was wasting his time with the things of God, because for his past, he had no hope of a better future. Martin Luther looked straight at the devil and said, “My past has been forgiven, I have a future in Christ Jesus and a home in heaven, now devil let me remind you of your past because of the cross of Jesus, and your future is sealed, you are a defeated foe.”

Whosoever God has forgiven and justified no enemy of hell has a right to try to condemn because of their past sins, for in God, their past sins have been washed away; there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, for there is no condemnation for those who have been freely pardoned and justified by His grace.

The Bible says in Micah 7:19 (NIV), “You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl our iniquities into the depths of the sea.” He has hurled your sins into the depths of the sea and placed a sign for the devil to see, it reads in big bold letters, “No fishing.” For you have been cleansed, you have been washed, you have been justified and made holy. Jesus Christ has pulled the plug on all the rubbish in your life and washed it clean away. His blood has completely cleansed you and you stand before a holy God made holy through Jesus Christ who, by His grace, has justified you.

My friend, what a powerful word from our text for today in Romans 3:24 (KJV), “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

There is wonderful song written by Horatio .G. Safford (1828 to 1888) with these amazing lyrics:

My sin, oh the bliss of this glorious thought – my sin not in part but the whole.

Is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more; praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh my soul.

God has taken away your filthy rages and clothed you in royal robes you don’t deserve. He has made you holy in His sight through His gift of grace which He has given to you in Christ Jesus. He has justified you, and you stand before the throne of God cleansed by the blood of Jesus just as if you had never sinned. What a place to be, what a gift of God, what an uplifting verse of Scripture which brings you life, liberty and joy in the Holy Spirit.

God bless you my friend, Matthew
