Philippians 2:7 (Darby) ~ But emptied himself, taking a bondman’s form, taking his place in the likeness of men.

He emptied himself; He took off the garments of His Divine power and glory and clothed himself with humanity, then took on flesh and blood when the Word became flesh Jesus was found in the appearance of man. Jesus Christ loved you so much that He emptied himself, He poured out everything on the altar of sacrifice in order for you to be saved and filled with His power and glory, clothed in royal robes and that you might become a joint heir with Him of heaven.

In the words of an old hymn written by Charles Wesley, And Can It Be That I Should Gain:

He left His Father’s throne above, so free, so infinite His grace—
Emptied Himself of all but love, and bled for Adam’s helpless race:
’Tis mercy all, immense and free, for O my God, it found out me!

Jesus in an act of Divine exchange took the punishment for your sins so you may have His forgiveness. For all the punishment and evil that was due, by Divine justice, to your sin, came upon Jesus. This was the case, so that all the good that was due to the sinless obedience of Jesus might be made available to you.

Jesus took your death so you may have His life,

Jesus took your poverty so you may share His riches,

Jesus took your shame and rejection so you may have His acceptance,

Jesus took your filthy rages so you may have His robes of righteousness,

Jesus took your sickness so you may have His healing,

Jesus took your pain so you may have His peace.

My friend, Jesus emptied himself on the cross of Calvary; He gave everything He had for you so you may have life, liberty and joy in the Holy Spirit, through Him. When you empty yourself before Him and ask Jesus to come into your life He will fill you with His Life. From that moment on, you will have life eternal and you will be filled with His power, glory and love.

God bless you my friend, Matthew
