Psalm 121: 3 to 8 (NIV) ~ He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you—the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Three times the word “watches” is used and twice the word “watch” is used in these few verses of Scripture.  Each time, it is followed by a very personal message from God when He uses the words, “over you” and “over your”. This is a very power word for the LORD to you today:  God is watching over you. The Hebrew word for watch and watches is one and the same word, it is samar meaning to keep safe and secure, observe, guard, protect, take care of, faithful, to preserve, to cling to, to shepherd, to tenderly love and watch over.

From verse three right through to verse eight, God’s promise of His Divine care and His full attention to you is emphasised by the words watch over you. Can you fathom the depths of His love for you? Or can you even grasp His vast and infinite love for you? His eye is upon you, He will not let your foot slip, ELOHIM ADONAI is watching over you. He is at your side, with every beat of your heart and every step you take. Furthermore, He will keep you from all harm, He does not sleep or slumber as he watches over you, His ears are attentive to your cry and arm is strong and mighty to save. Not only does He watch over you whatever you do and wherever you go, but He also watches over your coming and going. All the time, God is looking out for you. God is looking out to bless you, to provide for you in every area of your life and to keep you safe and secure in the Saviour’s love.

My friend, what an amazing promise from God you have, wrapped up in this powerful cluster of verses, all full of the fruit of faithfulness from a faithful God. Oh, the bliss of this reassuring word from God for you today, “He is watching over you.”

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
