1 Samuel 17: 38 to39 (NIV) ~ Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armour on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. “I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul.

Saul stood head and shoulders above everyone in Israel while David was just a young boy. When David put Saul’s armour on, it was so ill-fitting that he could not even walk in it, let alone go out and fight in it. How this prophetic statement from David rings with truth even today, because you cannot go to battle with something that does not fit you? You cannot go out to fight the enemy with the armour of another man.

The armour that God gives fits everyone perfectly. When you take His sword in your hand, it feels as if it was made especially for you. Every part of the armour of God fits you like glove. Every piece of God’s armour is exactly the same for everyone: brand new and fit for any battle, no matter how small or great the fight.

Just as the armour from God fit us perfectly, so His anointing to reign as a king comes upon each of us in a unique way. Each person has received from God what God has given him or her, so you cannot walk in another man’s anointing as king, you must use what God has given you. Each man or woman must seek God for himself or herself and ask for His anointing for his or her life.

Saul wanted to use the sword to defeat Goliath, but David used his slingshot. If God has called you into the battle, then surely He knows the best way to defeat every Goliath that stands before you.

My friend, Saul’s armour did not fit David and I am sure David’s slingshot was no good to Saul against Goliath. Let God clothe you with what is best for you to win every battle, for you cannot walk around, or fight effectively, clothed in something from someone else, rather than being clothed in what God gives you to be victorious over every giant and over every enemy that stands before you.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
