Deuteronomy 28:13 ( KJV ) ~ And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them.

The head and not the tail, above only and not beneath, this covenant promise is priceless in value, awesome in application and powerful in proclamation. God’s will is not for you to be a doormat for the world to wipe their feet on, but a leading example of how God can honour and lift you up to be a leader among men. With God you will be successful and excel, and all the works of your hands will be blessed; you will be blessed in your work, blessed in your field, blessed in your class room and blessed in your home.

There is also the aspect of your everyday lives and all the little details of which God is dearly interested in. You are to be the head which leads and takes the right direct, not to be led but, to be a leader; to be a trailblazer, to be at the cutting edge of things and lead by example through your purpose-driven, Christ-centred lifestyle.

God wants you to be above only and not beneath, to be above sickness and defeat, to be above lack and to be on top of your finances; to have your baskets full of His blessing, to be blessed in the fruit of your labour, the fruit of your spirit and the fruit of your ministry, to rise above all things and be filled with abundance of His bounty.

Now, let me take you to the last little detail in our verse for today, this is the hinge which makes all these things possible, if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them. Also the Bible says in Deuteronomy 28:2 (NIV), “All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God.” The word “if” indicates that the blessings that have been outlined are conditional; they are ours IF we will faithfully and diligently obey all that God has commanded in His word.

My friend, what a promise of God to inherit, what an awesome place to be in to have the blessing and favour of God in every area of your life! In your health, your home, your storehouse, your family and your work place; to be the head and not the tail, to be above only and not beneath, it can all be yours this day when you walk before Him and obey His commandments.

God bless your friend Matthew.
