John 16:14 (NIV) ~ He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.

John 16:14 (NIV) ~ He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.

Think on this for a few moments:  when you read your Bible you are giving glory to Jesus. When the Holy Spirit opens up the word of God to you as you read the Bible, He is, in effect, taking the Word of God, who is Jesus Christ and making Him known to you in a deeper and more intimate way. In doing so, the Holy Spirit is bringing glory to Jesus through you reading your Bible and learning about Him. Every time you open up your Bible and read something about Jesus, and something new is revealed to you through the Holy Spirit, you are participating with the Holy Spirit in bringing glory to Jesus.

The Bible says in Revelation 1:3 (NIV), “Blessed is the man who reads the words of this prophecy.” Just reading God’s word will bless you, and when you read the word of God you can see more of his awesome power, more of his awesome love and more of his awesome grace and mercy. The Bible is God’s personal letter to you. By reading His word, you will see the heart of your ABBA Father, and see how much God loves you.

The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV), “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” Take the time, and make the time, to meditate upon God’s word, marinate in the truth, soak it all up like a sponge, and feed upon it every day, and breathe it in like air, as if your very life depended upon it.

The Bible says in Ephesians 5:26 (NIV), “…to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word.” Keep yourself clean by washing yourself in the word of God every day, and renew your mind with the pure and wholesome word of the Living God, and meditate upon the powerful promises of God.

Another way in which you can bring glory to Jesus is by not only reading your Bible and learning more about Jesus, but also by doing what the word of God lovingly and encouragingly tells you to do.

My friend, it is remarkable that this amazing truth from our text for today in John 16:14 (NIV), “He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you,” is such a simple way to bring glory to Jesus by picking up your Bible and reading it and learning something new about Jesus, and then putting into practice what you have learnt from the Holy Spirit to bring more glory to Jesus. Let me encourage you to honour Jesus, to learn more about Him by reading your Bible today and to put into practise what you have learnt and glorify Jesus.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
