1 Chronicles 9:22 (NIV) The gatekeepers had been assigned to their positions of trust by David.

Gatekeepers over the doors of the church.

The Gatekeeper allows or disallows what goes through the gate. He would stand guard as a sentry protecting what is inside, guarding the people from anything that would cause them harm or would lead them astray.

God has called people to be “Gatekeepers” over His people at the gates of the church; people who will have the courage to say, “No” to things that would cause disruption, disunity, harm and would lead people astray. To say, “You will not pass!” Or, to put it another way “Not on my watch!” Gatekeepers who say, “Yes” to the things that are of the Kingdom of God, and, “No” to things that are against the will of God.

A good “Gatekeeper” will seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in prayer, asking how best to pray for wisdom and to cover God’s sheep in prayer to protect them and disciple them.

However, some people do not face up to the awesome responsibility of the importance of this calling. As a result, some churches are fighting against things that should not be allowed in that are causing the floodgates of “Alternative lifestyles”, that are contrary to God’s word, to be acceptable.

A “Gatekeeper” is a good Shepherd that looks after the sheep, protecting God’s sheep from that which wants to destroy them with disunity, and trying to get them to compromise on being “Custodians of the truth of God’s word”.

My friend, each one us who belong long to Jesus, have an awesome responsibility to be “Gatekeepers” over the front doors to our family, to cover them in prayer, and to protect them. Also, to support those who are in leadership as “Gatekeepers”, Shepherds over God’s sheep, people who act as sentries over the “Gates of the church”, to protect the sheep from “wolves in sheep’s clothing”; “Gatekeepers” who will open the gate to let the blessing of God come in and His love to pour out, into a world that needs Jesus.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
