Proverbs 15:24 (Darby Translation) ~ The path of life is upwards for the wise.

Proverbs 15:24 (Darby Translation) ~ The path of life is upwards for the wise.

Keep paddling upstream for God.

It takes courage in this day and age to be a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, when everyone wants you to just to go with the flow. To be a Christian, first you must repent, that means you must do a complete turn around and start walking the other way, away from a life of sin to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. In doing so, you are paddling upstream against the strong currents of unbelief and criticism—all because you made that decision to follow Jesus.

At times, people will try to get you to stop following Jesus. At times, you may feel that the waves of discouragement and disappointment are crashing against you. But don’t give up! Grab the paddle of faith and keep paddling upstream.

When things get tough remember those words of encouragement from the Lord in Genesis 15:1 (NIV), “I am your shield and your very great reward,” also in Psalm 18:2 (NIV), “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”  Encourage yourself in the Lord. Remember the words of the Apostle Paul from Philippians 4:13 (KJV), “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Keep paddling upstream.

Even when your friends are saying to you, “You don’t have to be so heavenly minded,” you just keep your eyes on Jesus; just keep paddling upstream for God. It takes courage to keep going and not give in. Have you ever felt as if your arms are weary because resisting and battling against the enemy is hard? Let the Lord strengthen you. With each row of the paddle of faith, you are saying to the world this declaration from Joshua 24:15 (NIV), “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”

When you stand before God believing, in prayer, for a miracle, for your breakthrough, for something special to happen from God, for souls to be saved, for a revival to come, and the waves of unbelief with their strong torrents of doubt and fear come against you, hold fast and keep paddling upstream, as you do so you will pass those rough waters into the blessing of God, into a place of His peace, prosperity and power. Hold fast to the paddle of faith, hold fast to the promises of God and keep moving up stream.

Our text for today says in Proverbs 15:24 (Darby Translation), “The path of life is upwards for the wise.” In God, you are constantly climbing, always going upward, always moving forward, so keep paddling upstream.

My friend hold fast to the paddle of faith, keep going on for God, keep paddling upstream, upward and onward to the shores of heaven.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
