John 20:1 (DARBY) And on the first day of the week Mary of Magdala comes in early morn to the tomb, while it was still dark, and sees the stone taken away from the tomb.

John 20:1 (DARBY) And on the first day of the week Mary of Magdala comes in early morn to the tomb, while it was still dark, and sees the stone taken away from the tomb.

This was a Genesis first day of the week, in more ways than one. The start of a new day, the beginning of a new dawn, the creation of a new way of living. This was the day that has changed history. This was a day when the doors of heaven were swung wide open; this was the day when Jesus rose from the dead! This was a Genesis day, on the first day of the week, everything changed. From a world that was once just darkness, to a new world of glorious light.

A new day of power, a new day of eternal hope, a new day of miracles. A day of accepting Jesus Christ into your heart’s as your Lord, and glorious risen Saviour, to become a new creation in Christ Jesus.

On the first day of the week, God said in Genesis 1:1 to3 (NIV) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, ” Let there be light,” and there was light.

Now on the first day of the week, can you imagine God speaking to the darkness of the tomb where Jesus lay. Let there be light! As the Holy Spirit hovered over the tomb, raising Jesus to life from the darkness of the tomb, and then bursting forth in to glorious day, up from the grave He rose, to reign! Jesus the light of the world has come to us, as the light of life.

My friend, Our text for today says in John 20:1 (DARBY) And on the first day of the week Mary of Magdala comes in early morn to the tomb, while it was still dark, and sees the stone taken away from the tomb.

On the first day of the week, it became a Genesis day. A day to herald the dawn a new way of living, the day the stone rolled away from the tomb and the miracle of the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead happened, it was a Genesis day of new beginnings in the Lord God Almighty. A day of new beginnings in Christ Jesus and a new day of power in the Holy Spirit.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.

  1. I never considered those words, the first day of the week. When you stop to think about it, those words are powerful, a new beginning and future in Christ Jesus.
Trust you had a blessed Easter, and thank you for another great post.
