Mark 4:3 (NIV) Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed.

Mark 4:3 (NIV) “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed.”
If we want something to grow, we must first sow! If we ever want to see a harvest we must sow seed. It is so simple to understand, without sowing there will be no reaping or growing.
A farmer went out to sow seed. He took the initiative and done something with the seed. He did not stay in his nice warm house, looking out of his window each and every day wishing for a harvest, without going out to sow. The result of which, is none will appear. If all we do is just sit about in our nice warms churches, wishing for a harvest to come to us, hoping it will all just appear without sowing, then our hope for a harvest is in vain.
A farmer went out! He got up and done something, because he wanted to see a harvest. We cannot wait within the walls of our church simply hoping for a harvest, without prayer and sowing God’s seed. We must go out and sow! We must take the seed of the word of God and sow. Evangelism is all about telling people about Jesus Christ, it is all about sowing for a mighty harvest of souls in Jesus name!
It is the Holy Spirit who convicts the soul of sin and their need for a Saviour in Jesus Christ our Lord. The Bible says in Romans 10:14 (NIV) How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
Let us sow the seed of God’s word and tell the whosoever about the gift of salvation, and the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary to pay the price of our sin, that we the guilty ones may be forgiven and have the hope of glory in His name.
Notice if you will, when the farmer went out to sow. He sowed his seed generously, he scattered his seed on all types of ground. As we sow faithfully for the Lord, as we pray and are active in sharing our faith, we will hear the words of Jesus ringing in our ears, “Look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”
But where are the harvesters, where are the reapers to help with harvest? The Bible says in Matthew 9:37-38 (NIV) Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Will we rally under the call from the Lord to be a farmer, and sow seed generously on all types of ground to all men? When we are faithful in doing so it will help produce the harvest. Therefore, we will reap in a mighty harvest of souls for the Kingdom of God. So the sower and reaper may be glad together. There is an old gospel hymn by Horatius Bonar (1808-1898) which say these beautiful words:
Here I am wholly available, as for me I will serve the Lord.
The fields are white unto harvest, but oh the labours are few;
So Lord I give myself to reaping, to gather precious souls unto You.

My friend, let us consider carefully our text for today in Mark 4:3 (NIV),”Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed.” Let us embrace his work ethic and sow the seed of God’s word, to reap a mighty harvest of souls in Jesus name!
God bless you my friend, Matthew.
