Psalm 56:8 (KJV) put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?

Psalm 56:8 (KJV) put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?

In Biblical times when men went off to war to fight, the women who were left behind would weep for them before the Lord. They would call out to God to keep their men safe and they would cry because they missed them. They had, ‘tear bottles’ which they would put on their cheeks to catch their tears as they cried. Their tears in the bottles were a sign of how much the women missed their men. A symbol of their love, loyalty and devotion. When the men came back, the women would show them how much the had missed them. They would say, “See my tears for you in this bottle, see how much I cried for you, how much I missed you, how much I love you.”

The NIV says this, “Record my lament; list my tears on your scroll are they not in your record?” Now the Psalmist David brings another light to this act of love. In his inner spirit, he was crying out to the Lord, about the shocking injustice in the land. He longed for God’s righteousness in his time to been seen in the land. He longed for God’s deliverance for him and his people from the hand of the enemy. Have you cried out to the LORD for your land? Has your heart been broken for the lost, have you shed tears for them to be saved? Do you cry out to God about the injustice in your land and do you long for God’s righteousness to be seen? Has these things brought you to your knees in prayer to the point of crying out to God for Him to bring a revival? Psalm 56:8 (KJV) put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? Hear O Lord my cry for this nation, record my lament before your throne, see my tear bottles filled with the prays from my heart. Show your mercy upon this land, for I have heard of your awesome deeds O LORD, renew them in my day, in my time, in my generation make them known.

Now let me take you onto a deeper truth from this touching verse of Scripture. Notice if you will the wording from our text for today in Psalm 56:8 (KJV) put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? In Thy bottle, and record them in Thy book. The LORD hears your cry, He sees your tears, your heartbreak, your disappointment and your pain. He is touched by your weeping and your anguish of heart. He gathers your tears in His bottle and records them in His book. You are remembered in heaven at the throne of God Himself as Jesus says the His Father and yours, “Father, see their pain, look at their tears in this bottle, read of their heartache and heal them.” Oh what a glorious picture of the tender-mercies and love of a compassionate Saviour, who has put your tears in His bottle and prayed for you.

My friend, when you cry out to God and you think no one sees your tears, as they roll down your cheeks, they never fall on just earthly soil, for they are seen by the Saviour and put in His bottle. He remembers your affliction and prays on your behalf, He is the One who intercedes for you, the One who brings you liberty from the pain and Divine healing in His Name. The Bible says in Psalm 34:15 (NIV) The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry. Your tears are always seen and recorded, your tears touch the Father’s heart in heaven when He sees your tears in a bottle. A visible sign seen by an invisible God, who makes His invisible qualities visible by the manifestation of His power and glory for you by way of a miracle in healing, in deliverance, in provision, in peace and by the breakthrough you have been praying for in your life.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
