What an amazing statement from the lips of the psalmist David. First, he gives his intention to do something, his declaration, his will to call out in prayer. Then he tells the reader to whom he is calling out, “to God, and God alone.” Then last, but not least, he declares in faith, with an unwavering assurance, “for you will answer me.”
When we want to know divine healing to whom do we call? We call on the Lord God Almighty for He will surely answer us. When we are in need, we call to the Lord, for He will answer us. When we are in the midst of hard times, we call to the Lord, for He will answer us. When we are looking for a miracle, we call to the Lord, for He will answer us. When we need to be rescued, we call to the Lord, for He will answer us. When we need a breakthrough, we call to the Lord, for He will answer us.
The Bible says this in Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV), “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” 2 Samuel 22:4 (KJV) says, “I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.” Acts 2:21 (NIV) says, “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His word, Just to rest upon His promise, just to know, “Thus saith the Lord.”
My friend, God delights to hear us pray, He delights to hear the cry of our hearts calling out to Him. Furthermore, He delights to answer our prayers. Just as the psalmist David had the assurance, the unwavering faith, and the total confidence in God, to say in Psalm 17:6 (NIV), “I call on you, O God, for you will answer me,” so do we. God delights to hear you call out to Him, so He can show you His great and mighty power to save, and His awesome majesty at work, in answering your prayers. Call out to the Lord today, and see what God can do for you. Just trust in the Lord, just take Him at His word, just call upon the Lord your God, for He will answer you.
