2 Corinthians 1:21 (NIV), “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ.”

2 Corinthians 1:21 (NIV), “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ.”

To stand firm in Christ, not wavering, but standing firm in Him, is what God has called us to do. Over the years as a Christian, I have witnessed, first-hand, many people standing firm in Christ despite great opposition. They have valued God’s great and precious gift of salvation in Christ Jesus.

Then I have seen others who have played the “hokey pokey”, with His gift of salvation. They are in, and then they are out; backsliding, and then coming back to God, knowing neither the danger, nor perilous position in which they are putting themselves. God loves us and never wants to let go of us, however we can walk away from His love. The Bible says in Luke 15:24 (KJV), “For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.”

Now if God has anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come; who would want to walk away from all that God has for us?

My friend, let us not treat our salvation lightly, but let us learn to value it with every second of the day. If the Holy Spirit is only a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come, then what is to come, must be more than we could ever imagine. For the Bible says in 1Corinthians 2:9 (NIV), “However, as it is written: ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.’”

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
