James 1:22 (KJV), “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only”.
To put what we believe in to action is what God has called us to do. There has to be a balance in our walk with the Lord. We could listen to a hundred sermons on how to share our faith, on how to minister to people in the compassion for the Lord, but until we put it into action, we will never reach the lost, nor will we reap a harvest.
Jesus Christ brought the Kingdom of God into everyday things. He ministered to people because people are important to God. Indeed, we pray, “Thy will be done on earth as it is heaven”. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 8:1 (DARBY), “Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies”. Love builds up, love will find a way to help, and love will reach out to people in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Someone once said, “No one cares how much you know, unless you first show how much you care”. Mother Teresa once said, “I may not do great things, but I can do simple things with great love”. We may not all do great works, but like Mother Teresa, we can do simple things, with great love, so the will of God may be done on earth as it is in heaven.
My friend, if we only listen to the word of God, but don’t do as it says, then these verses from James 1:22 to 24 apply to us, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like”. But let us not be only listeners, but also doers of the word of God, putting what we heard into practise; let the two of them walk hand in hand, together working side by side for our the progress and development, and let us then reach a deeper walk of faith in the Lord, for the Kingdom of God.
God bless you my friend, Matthew.
