Winning the Battle Together

The Bible tells this amazing story in Exodus 17 v 9 to 13, “And Moses said to Joshua, ‘Choose us out men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.’ So Joshua did as Moses said and fought with Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the hilltop. When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; and when he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands were heavy and grew weary. So the other men took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other side; so his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. So Joshua overcame the Amlekite army with the sword.”

There are times in our lives that when we face a battle.  It’s good to have someone holding up our hands when we feel weary…to help us win the battle together. The Bible says in Leviticus 26 v 8, “And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.” It’s about supporting one another in the good fight of faith. It’s about winning the battle together.

The Bible says this in Ecclesiastes 4 v 12, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” In a marriage, if you always have Jesus in the centre of it, and you both never take your eyes off him, you will find the victory in your marriage. Then you will be winning the battle together, instead of this, he walked alone, she walked alone, they walked alone together. Please my friend, hear my heart on this. I see this happening each and every day. I see couples walking alone in God together. Not having time for each other.

If you have a triangle, and at the pinnacle of that triangle is where you want to be, it’s a place where you meet and walk together in God, with Jesus at the centre of your relationship. It’s a place where the husband holds up his arms in prayer for his wife, and his wife for her husband. It’s about winning the battle together.

Perhaps you are on you own. Then my friend, remember this, Jesus will hold up HIS hands in prayer for you.  Jesus is praying for you, and with him on you side, you are winning the battle together.

God bless you my friend, Matthew.
