John 3:30 (NIV). “ He must become greater I must become less “.
When John the baptist said these words in John 3:30 (NIV). “ He must become greater I must become less “. He a side his own agenda to follow God’s plan. He was obedient to the will of God and fulfilled his mission, now John said willingly, ” He must become greater, I must become less “.
Our goal is to walk daily with Jesus, to become like him in our actions and by the way we talk. To let Him so consume us, so that all of what we are, fades away until all of what He is can be seen. I can not be truly filled with something if I put limitations on it. It calls for a total surrender to His will. Let Jesus be Lord of all. Someone once said, “If he is not Lord of all, he is not Lord at all.”
To give him the preeminence in our lives. So He must increase as we decrease. He must become greater within us. His will, His way of life and the will of our heavenly Father must be put first in our lives.
Let us put off our garments of selfishness and be clothed in Christ, in his righteousness to have
the mind of Jesus Christ filled with compassion and love for the saint and sinner a like, to know the will of God for our lives and live daily in obedience to it.
As the Bible says 1 Corinthians 2:16 (NIV) ” Have the mind of Christ “. To be motivated by love, to be driven with compassion and have our will completely surrendered to Jesus. For it to have such an affect on us, to the point of when the world looks on at us, they can clearly see by our way of life, our words and actions that we belong to Jesus, and our lives reflect something of His will and way of life.
The Bible says Matthew 5:16 NIV) “ Let you light shine before men, that they my praise your father in heaven. The Bible also says in Isaiah 60:1 (NIV)” Arise shine for the glory of the Lord shines upon you “. Let the pure light of Jesus shine through you, without any distractions, so that nothing will stop the flow of His light, His love, His tender-mercies, His grace and His compassion.
The Bible says in 1 Peter 3:15 NIV) “In your hearts set a side Christ as Lord”. Let Jesus become greater in you each and everyday. There was a saying years ago, it went something like this..’More of me less of Jesus, more of Jesus less of me.’
May all of our selfish actions and impure motives be set aside, so that the pure wholesome will of God can be evident in our lives.
My friend if we every want to grow in Jesus, we too must say with all our hearts about the will of the Father in our lives and about following Jesus. “He must become greater, I must become less.”
God bless you my friend, Matthew.
